NCC: Leaders stand firm after strong month of July

  
  


(July 31, 2015) – Hilton Clarke (Los Angeles, Calif./UnitedHealthcare) and Erica Allar (Tucson, Ariz.) remained atop the USA Cycling National Criterium Calendar (NCC) standings following the July 11 Andersen Banducci Twilight Criterium in Boise, Idaho, and July 25 Intelligentsia Cup p/b SRAM in Lake Bluff, Ill., holding onto standings leads as the calendar moves into its second half.
 
MEN’S

Clarke stands tall atop the men’s standings with 662 points, most recently adding an Intelligentsia Cup win and third-place result at the Andersen Banducci Twilight Criterium. Ryan Aitcheson (Milwaukee, Wis./Astellas Cycling Team) remains second with 418 following top-10 results at the two events, while Carlos Alzate (COL/UnitedHealthcare) jumped to third with 372 points on the heels of his bronze medal performance at the Intelligentsia Cup p/b SRAM. Karl Menzies (Ada, Mich./UnitedHealthcare) stands fourth with 340 points, and Daniel Holloway’s (Morgan Hill, Calif./Altovelo-SeaSucker) Andersen Banducci win bumped him up to fifth with 294 points.
 
WOMEN’S
 
Allar used two top-10 finishes in July to remain first in the women’s individual standings with 712 points, but Samantha Schneider (Milwaukee, Wis./ISCorp Cycling p/b SmartChoice MRI) applied the pressure with a silver medal at the Intelligentsia Cup and a bronze at the Anderson Banducci Twilight Criterium, giving her a second-place 646 points. Tina Pic (Hailey, Idaho/Pepper Palace Pro Cycling p/b the Happy Tooth) stands third with 519 points, most recently taking third in Lake Bluff, while Skylar Schneider (West Allis, Wis./ISCorp Cycling p/b SmartChoice MRI) and Jamie Gilgen (CAN) round out the top five with 380 and 312 points, respectively.
 
TEAM
 
UnitedHealthcare continues to dominate the men’s team standings with 1918 points, boasting four July podium finishes to bolster its lead. Astellas Cycling Team stands a distant second with 946 points with four top-10 results on the month, while Hincapie Racing Team ranks third with 611 points despite not adding to its point total in July. KHS-Maxxis-JL Velo remains fourth with 412 points, and Champion System-Stan’s NoTubes jumped to fifth with 293 points following four top-15 finishes between the Anderson Banducci Twilight Criterium and Intelligentsia Cup p/b SRAM.
 
Schneider led the charge for ISCorp Cycling p/b SmartChoice MRI, boosting the squad’s women’s team standings lead to 1442 points thanks to her two podium finishes. Pepper Palace Pro Cycling p/b the Happy Tooth surged from fifth to second with 825 points, most recently led by Pic’s Intelligentsia Cup bronze, and are followed by UnitedHealthcare in third with 790 points. Colavita-Bianchi p/b Fine Cooking dropped from third to fourth with 775 points, and Team TIBCO-SVB fell from fourth to fifth with 726 points.
