Two U.S. athletes crack top-10 on Day 2 at UCI Mountain Bike World Cup #4

  
  


(May 31, 2014) – A pair of top-10 finishes highlighted Day 2 for the U.S. at the 2014 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup #4 today in Albstadt, Germany. Today’s action featured men’s and women’s juniors cross-country as well as U23 women’s cross-country competition.

Neilson Powless (Roseville, Calif./ Whole Athlete-Specialized) took 10th after finishing the course in 1:01:46, just two minutes, 42 seconds off leader Simon Andreassen’s (DEN) 59:04 finish. Luca Schwarzbauer (GER) finished in 59:23, while Hugo Pigeon (FRA) took third in 1:00:45. Sean Bennett (El Cerrito, Calif./Whole Athlete-Specialized) placed 37th after finishing in 1:05:30, while Zachary Peterson’s (Bountiful, Utah/Whole Athlete-Specialized) day ended in 122nd.
 
Kate Courtney (Kentfield, Calif./Specialized), the lone U23 rider from the U.S., also placed 10th, finishing six minutes, 30 seconds off the winning pace of 1:22:51, which was set by Margot Moschetti (FRA). Yana Belomoina (UKR) and Lisa Rabensteiner (ITA) rounded out the women’s top 3.
