The USA Cycling National Track Calendar (NTC) rolled into its second event of the year as riders competed in the Fixed Gear Classic at the NSC Velodrome in Blaine, Minn. Sprinters plied their trade in the match sprint, team sprint and keirin while endurance riders vied for wins in the points race, scratch race and Madison.

Men's Sprint
Only last week's leader remains in the top five of the NTC men's sprint standings. Andrew Carlberg (Bryan, Texas/Team Spincycle) remains the leader with 49 points after collecting 19 points in Minnesota. Carlberg joined with Jeff Whiteman (Chicago, Ill./George Garner Cyclery Track Team) and Jason Garner (Glenview, Ill./George Garner Cyclery Track Team) to win the team sprint after placing seventh in the keirin to remain the standings leader. Jonathan Fraley (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Serenity Bikes) won the keirin and match sprint and placed second in the team sprint to record 42 points and move into second place in the standings. One of Carlberg's teammates, Whiteman, finished second in the match sprint and fifth in the keirin to record 33 points and assume third place, 10 points ahead of Nathan Brennaman (Minneapolis, Minn./Omnium Racing), who is in fourth. Daniel Currell (Saint Paul, Minn./Mistubishi Laser-Grand Perf.) holds fifth place with 22 points.

Women's Sprint
The NTC women's sprint standings are almost completely different from the previous standings. Dana Feiss (Telford, Pa./Home Depot Center Team) swept the three women's sprint events, winning the match sprint, keirin and team sprint to amass 45 points and take the top spot of the standings. Missy Erickson (Alexandria, Minn./Momentum Coaching Group), placed second in the keirin and team sprint and third in the match sprint to move into second place in the standings with 37 points. Tela Crane (Sammamish, Wash./JL Velo p/b Broadmark Capital), joined Feiss to win the team sprint, finished second in the match sprint and took fourth in the keirin to register 35 points and hold third place. Cari Higgins (Boulder, Colo./Exergy TWENTY16) is five points behind Crane and only one point ahead of Lindsay Felker (Seattle, Wash./The Resistance), who remains in fifth place with 29 points.

Women's Endurance
Cari Higgins
(Boulder, Colo./Exergy TWENTY16) won the women's points race and finished second in the scratch race to bring her season-long total to 27 points, which lands her in third place of the NTC women's endurance standings. Korina Huizar (Roseville, Calif./Hellyer Racing) moved into the top spot with 55 points after adding 20 points in Minnesota by placing second in the points race and fourth in the scratch race. Jennifer Zierke (Millbrae, Calif./Pinnacle p/b Argon 18) slipped down one spot into second place with 44 points, 17 points ahead of Higgins. Amelia Christensen (Fairfield, Iowa/ACQUA AL 2-SDBC) and Lindsey Felker (Seattle, Wash./The Resistance) slipped into fourth and fifth places with 21 and 20 points, respectively.

Men's Endurance
Zachary Kovalcik
(Portland, Ore./Sizzle Pie Cycling p/b Veloforma) swept the three men's endurance races, winning the points race, scratch race and Madison (with Franco Marvulli (SUI/Assos)) to earn 45 points and claim the top spot of the NTC men's endurance standings. Kovalcik now leads the previous leader, Zachary Carlson (Plano, Texas/Matrix-RBM) by 10 points after two calendar events. Liam Donoghue (Boulder, Colo./Natural Grocers Cycling Team) also slipped down one spot into third place with 34 points, 10 points ahead of Chris Carlson (Plano, Texas/Matrix-RBM) and 12 points ahead of the fifth-place riders, Marvulli and Augusto Sanchez (Fort Lee, N.J./Park Place Dealerships Sun & Ski).
