The cyclo-cross strong woman went into the race ranked number one after a gold medal performance in round two, another win in round three, and a silver medal ride in round one. She is now well on her way to the overall series victory, sitting atop the elite women's World Cup standings with 230 points.
In Namur, Compton made a comeback from a rough start and reeled in early leader and rival, Marianne Vos (NED) on the muddy and hilly course. The Colorado rider then powered her way to a 40-second lead which she held until the end. Vos came in second while British rider Nikki Harris rounded out third.
Racing to an impressive seventh place was American Kaitlin Antonneau (Racine, Wis./Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld.com). She finished just 1:47 back from the winning time set by Compton.
In addition to Compton and Antonneau, 18 other Americans competed in Namur and their results are listed below.
The 2013-2014 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup continues in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium on Dec. 26 before wrapping up with a pair of races in January.
