Compton makes it four in a row with her Namur World Cup win

Namur, Belgium (December 23, 2012) – Overcoming muddy conditions and a strong women’s elite field, Katie Compton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Trek Cyclocross Collective) rode to her fourth UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup victory in a row on Sunday.
The win keeps the current U.S. national champion on top of the UCI’s World Cup women’s rankings with 290 points, an 80-point lead over Sanne Van Paassen of the Netherlands. Compton finished 28 seconds ahead of Katerina Nash (CZE/Luna Pro Team) and 50 seconds ahead of current world champion Marianne Vos (NED/Rabobank Women Cycling Team).
Four other American women also finished in the top 20 in Namur. In 11th place was Meredith Miller (Boulder, Colo./California Giant/Specialized). Amy Dombroski (Boulder, Colo./Young Telenet-Fidea Cycling Team) crossed the line in 14th. Nicole Duke (Boulder, Colo./Raleigh-Clement) and Crystal Anthony (Beverly, Mass./Cyclocrossworld.com) finished 18th and 19th, respectively.
Elite Men
Jonathan Page (Northfield, N.H./(Planet Bike) led the American men’s effort with a 15th-place finish, despite a flat tire on the third lap. Current U.S. national champion Jeremy Powers (Easthampton, Mass./Team Rapha-FOCUS) placed 28th. Belgian Kevin Pauwels (Sunweb-Revor) won the race.

Americans Successful in Junior Men’s Race
In the Soudal Classic Citadelle de Namur junior men’s race, a non-world cup event, Logan Owen (Bermerton, Wash./Team Redline) rode a dominating race to take the win by more than two minutes. Curtis White (Delanson, N.Y./Hot Tubes Development Cycling Team) finished behind Owen to put a second American on the podium. Also placing in the top ten were David Lombardo (Crystal Lake, Ill./Verdigris-Village CX Team) in seventh and Stephen Bassett (Knoxville, Tenn./ Kentucky Flyers Cycling Inc/ Texas Roadhouse Cycling Team P/B Motorex) in tenth.
In the U23 men’s race, also a non-world cup event, Andrew Dillman (Fairdale, Ky./Bob's Red Mill Cyclocross Team) was the top American with 16th place. Skyler Trujillo (Fort Collins, Colo.) also notched a top-20 finish with 19th.
Up next on the world cup circuit is a stop in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium, on December 26.
