The 2012 UCI Track World Championships concluded Sunday in Hisense Arena in Melbourne. Jennie Reed was the only American to ride today, as she finished 11th in just the fourth attempt at the women's individual pursuit of her career.

Also on Sunday the men contested the keirin and Madison and the women raced time trial.

Considering her inexperience in the race, Jennie Reed (Seattle, Wash./OUCH Pro Cycling) was happy when she finished with 3:35.359, a personal best.

"I couldn't have asked for anything more," Reed, the 2008 world champion in the keirin, said after her qualification ride. "It was my fourth pursuit ever. I had nothing to lose going into it. I really wanted to crack that 3:40 barrier, so it was definitely a shocker to ride a 3:35. I just went in not putting limitations on myself. That's the type of rider I am. If you tell me to just go for it, I'm probably going to set a personal best by more than I initially thought, so I'm stoked."

In the medal rides, Alison Shanks (NZL) defeated Wendy Houvenaghel (NED) in the gold medal ride while Ashlee Ankudinoff (AUS), who qualified in fourth place, was faster than Amy Cure (AUS) in the bronze medal race.
