Compton places third at UCI World Cup race in Namur

Kaitlin Antonneau (Racine, Wisc./Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld.com) finished strong, placing 10th, only 2:41 behind Vos. Maureen Bruno Roy (Arlington, Mass./Bob's Red Mill-Seven Cycles) was 24th while Christine Vardaros (Wyckoff, N.J./Baboco Cycling Team) was 33rd.
In the elite men's race, Jonathan Page (Northfield, N.H./Planet Bike) posted the best result among American men, finishing 25th while Timothy Johnson (Topsfield, Mass./Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com) was 39th. Troy Wells (Durango, Colo./Team Clif Bar) was down one lap, Mitchell Hoke (Colorado Springs, Colo./Tokyo Joe’s) was two laps down and Jeremy Durrin (Amherst, Mass./Berkshire Cycling Association) was four laps down. Page was four minutes behind Sven Nys (BEL/Landbouwkrediet), who won the elite men’s contest with a time of 1:03:04.
In the UCI’s elite women's World Cup standings, Compton is in second place, only 26 points behind leader Daphny Van Den Brand (NED/AA Drink-Leontien.NL Cycling Team). Amy Dombroski (Boulder, Colo./Crankbrothers-The Race Club) is in 14th, 88 points behind Compton. Antonneau and Meredith Miller (Boulder, Colo./California Giant Cycling) each has 35 points, 27 points behind Dombroski. Nicole Duke (Boulder, Colo./Cannondale p/b CyclocrossWorld.com) and Bruno Roy have each collected 31 points while Vardaros and Katherine Sherwin (Heber City, Utah/Stan's NoTubes Elite Cyclocross Team) have two points apiece.
In the elite men's World Cup standings, Jeremy Powers (Easthampton, Mass./Team Rapha Focus) is the top American in 26th place while Johnson is 20 points behind Powers in 30th place. Page is sitting in 36th, James Driscoll (Winooski, Vt./Cannondale p/b Cyclocrossworld.com) is in 58th while Durrin is in 71st.
The next UCI World Cup competition for elite riders is slated for Dec. 26 in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium.
