Junior Track World Championships wrap up in Moscow
Union Cycliste Internationale’s Junior Track World Championships wrapped up Sunday at the Krylatskoe Velodrome in Moscow, Russia. The United States, which collected a total of three medals (one gold and two bronze) through the course of the entire event, finished as the sixth-ranked country.
The final day’s races included the men’s keirin. Matthew Baranoski (Perkasie, Pa./SUB 49) registered a seventh-place finish while Kaleb Koch (Glenview, Ill./Cycle Sports Foundation Inc.-ISCorp Cycling Team) placed 25th.
Chandler Knop (Monument, Colo./NOW-MS p/b Chipotle) and Collin Berry (Huntington Beach, Calif./VRC-NOW-MS Society) put forth a gutsy ride to place seventh in the men’s 30-kilometer Madison.
Addyson Albershardt (Matthews, N.C./FLYING PIGS) and Jacqueline Denny (Liberty, Mo./FLYING PIGS) finished 18th and 22nd, respectively in the women’s individual pursuit.
Jennifer Valente (San Diego, Calif./Adams Avenue Bicycles-G S) was 12th in the women’s 500-meter time trial with a time of 37.926 while Chloe Chepigin (Chappaqua, N.Y./Young Medalists-Team Rothrock) finished in 17th with a time of 38.679.
Through the entire Union Cycliste Internationale’s Junior Track World Championships at the Krylatskoe Velodrome in Moscow, Russia, the unit also established a pair of unofficial American records, one in the junior men’s team pursuit (4:17.678) and the other in the women’s team pursuit (3:52.574).
