National Development Program posting strong results in Europe
USA Cycling's National Development Program continued its European road race season last weekend, fielding U23 riders at the Triptyques des Mont et Chateaux from April 1-3 and the Col san Martino on April 3.
Ian Boswell (Bend, Ore./Hot Tubes Development Cycling) Nathan Brown (Covington, Tenn./Trek-Livestrong) Lawson Craddock (Houston, Texas/Trek-Livestrong), Ryan Eastman (Petaluma, Calif./All Sport-Team Swift) Gavin Mannion (Dedham, Mass./Trek-Livestrong), Rob Squire (Sandy, Utah/Chipotle Development) and Larry Warbasse (Traverse City, Mich./BMC Racing).
Heading into the race, USA Cycling U23 Program Director Marcello Albasini was looking for improved technique.
“This is what I want to see,” Albasini said. “I don’t care really about results now, but more about learning and finding self confidence. They rode aggressively.”
USA Cycling was well represented throughout the three-day stage race as Craddock won the time trial stage and Warbasse placed third. Eastman finished fourth in a road stage later that same day. Overall, USA Cycling finished fourth as a team bolstered by Eastman's ninth-place finish in the general classification.
