U.S. continues to show Track & BMX strength
A third of the way through the 2010/2011 UCI BMX season, the U.S. is looking to be one of the very strongest nations in the world. On the track, our elite women team pursuiters are training and getting ready for the upcoming World Cup season while the next generation of elite women team pursuiters just wrapped up a development camp.
BMX DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
 It is one-third of the way through the 2010/2011 BMX season (which runs from July to July), and the UCI just updated its BMX rankings.
Tthe U.S. is ranked number one in the world for its elite women and number three in the world for elite men. With 1,548 points, the women lead second- and third-ranked Australia (1,384) and France (1,370). The American men have acquired 1,259 points to sit behind first-ranked Latvia (1,520) and second-ranked France (1,421).
In addition to the elite men's and women's impressive standings, American junior riders Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev.) and Brook Craine (Visalia, Calif.) are the number-one-ranked junior male and junior female in the world.

TRACK
 Seven young women took part in a USA Cycling Team Pursuit Development Camp at the Home Depot Center Velodrome in Carson, Calif., October 12-16:
Coryn Rivera (Tustin, Calif./Peanut Butter & Co TWENTY 12), Jennifer Triplett (Seattle, Wash./Broadmark Capitol Cycling), Kristin McGrath (Durango, Colo./Peanut Butter & Co TWENTY 12), Beth Newell (Oakland, Calif./MRBerkeley.com p/b Bell Lap), Hanan Alves-Hyde (Oakland, Calif./Peanut Butter & Co TWENTY 12), Megan Hottman (Golden, Colo./Treads.com/DFT), and Tara McCormick (Long Beach, Calif./Team TIBCO II).
"It was a good camp," said USA Cycling' s Coach Benjamin Sharp. "It was an opportunity to meet some of the women who are interested in being part of the team pursuit program and hopefully in the next couple of months, some of them will be able to join the established elite riders."
Sunday saw a group of elite women gather in California for a training camp. USA Cycling is now hosting a camp for its elite team pursuit women, Oct. 17-24. The following riders are participating:

"This camp is about getting these girls together again," Sharp went on, "They haven't ridden together since May and we're looking to see where everyone's fitness is and see what we need to work on before the first round of the World Cup."
