In the last race of the first block for the women's road contingent of the NDP, the women contested the Classica Citta di Padova in Italy. The course was predominately flat with open roads as the riders rode through cool temperatures under sunny skies.

The team progressed through the six-race block as all five women crossed the finish line in Italy after taking part in several small breakaways throughout the 126-kilometer race.

For the majority of the race, the group remained intact, with one two-rider breakaway lasting 20 kilometers and never gaining more than a 20-second advantage.

The race ended in a field sprint. The American contingent tried to gain an advantage with attacks in the last two kilometers, through the technical sections of the course to no avail.

In the final results, Jade Wilcoxson (Talent, Ore./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies), Janel Holcomb (San Diego, Calif./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies), Lauren DeCrescenzo (Boulder, Colo./Team Kenda p/b RACC) and Jacquelyn Crowell (Maitland, Fla./Exergy TWENTY16) each finished in the sprint. Giorgia Bronzini (ITA) won the sprint. Heather Fischer (Boulder, Colo./Exergy TWENTY16), who worked for Wilcoxson in the sprint, finished a little behind the sprinters.

Want to be part of USA Cycling’s Development Program? The first step is getting on USA Cycling’s radar. One of the best ways to do this is by attending a USA Cycling Regional Talent Identification Camp. The primary goal of the Talent ID Camps is to recognize athletes who, at an early age, show signs of potential future success in cycling. Receiving instruction from some of USA Cycling’s finest coaches, the camps also provide the necessary framework to improve the athletes skill set thus progressing their talent development. In some cases, the Regional Talent ID Camps assist in selecting riders for international competition and/or a national development camp.
