Devo Wrap: Road races, MTB camp fill busy week
The USA Cycling National Development Program (NDP) kicked into a higher gear as its riders participated in road races in Europe and braved the elements for a mountain bike camp in Boulder, Colo.

The women were able to contest the Drentse 8 on Thursday, March 7 before competing in the Boels Rental Ronde van Drenthe on Saturday. The Novilon Euregio Cup did not happen as planned on Sunday due to inclement weather.
In Thursday's race, the USA Cycling women coped with slick, windy roads to help Jade Wilcoxson (Talent, Ore./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) finish 24th in a field sprint of over 60 riders. In the final results, Marianne Vos (NED) won the sprint to finish the race in 3:26:50.
Shelley Olds (Gilroy, Calif./Team TIBCO-To the Top) and Megan Guarnier (Mountain View, Calif./Rabobank-Liv-Giant), riding for their trade teams, each finished in the top 10. Olds placed fourth while Guarnier was ninth.
On Saturday, the women were well placed in the front of the race as it approached the first, long cobblestone section of the 132.8-kilometer race. As the riders dealt with cold temperatures and 20 mile per hour winds, crashes began to affect the race. Wilcoxson and Heather Fischer (Boulder, Colo./Exergy TWENTY16) were caught behind a crash. Wilcoxson, with help from her teammates was able to chase back on to the front group. With the lead group down to 34 riders with three kilometers remaining in the race, Wilcoxson attacked, but took a wrong turn at a roundabout and finished 29th, 2:33 behind the winner Vos in the final results. Vos finished the race in 3:42:38.
Riding for their trade teams, Olds finished sixth and Carmen Small (Durango, Colo./Specialized-lululemon) placed tenth.
Jacquelyn Crowell (Maitland, Fla./Exergy TWENTY16), Lauren De Crescenzo (Boulder, Colo./Team Kenda p/b RACC), Fischer and Janel Holcomb (San Diego, Calif./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) also contested the races as members of USA Cycling's contingent.

The camp started with basic skills training on Friday. A snow storm on Saturday did not cause a problem as the training moved indoors where the riders worked on more advanced skills. On Sunday, the instruction moved back outside where they implemented the lessons learned on Friday and Saturday in the snow and other real-world terrain.

Women's Road
The women's road riders have a pair of races slated for the upcoming week. On Saturday, March 16, the following group of women are scheduled to contest the Classica Citta di Padova in Italy before toeing the line in France for the Cholet Pays de Loire Dames:
