(May 16, 2017) – A six-woman team raced in the Team USA kit during the May 11-14 Amgen Breakaway from Heart Disease Women’s Race empowered by SRAM. Hannah Arensman (Rutherford College, N.C./Sho-Air Twenty20) was the top finisher for Team USA, crossing in 59th, 13:29 back of winner Anna van der Breggen (NED). Racing for her trade team, Katie Hall (Oakland, Calif./UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Women’s Team) finished just one second behind van der Breggen. Cuba’s Arlenis Sierra rounded out the final GC podium.

Other Team USA riders in the final GC were Stefanie Sydlik (Pittsburgh, Pa.) in 67th (+15:49), Skylar Schneider (West Allis, Wis./Team Illunimate) in 73rd (+20:04), Allison Arensman (Brevard, N.C.) in 74th (+20:22) and Samantha Schneider (West Allis, Wis./Team Illunimate) in 77th (+23:41). Laurel Rathbun (Monument, Colo.) also contested the race.

“Our main goal was good finishes for stages 3 and 4,” said Team USA Coach Jack Seehafer. “The ladies did perform well as a team and everyone that joined us gained some highly valuable experience that they’ll be able to use going forward. This race was basically a season opener for most of the ladies and I expect good things out of them this year. Some will continue with us at Krasna Lipa and Thuringen in July. Overall, it was a good performance from our last-minute entry.”
