Big Bear Shootout hosts Pro UET round #3 on June 3

Print Round three of USA Cycling’s Pro Ultra Endurance Tour (Pro UET) hits its first altitude stop on June 3rd up in Big Bear Lake, Calif. Big Bear was the site of a stage in the 2012 Amgen tour of California, and has a rich cycling history hosting a former downhill World Cup and a plethora National Mountain bike caliber events in the past.
Eric Bostrom and teammate Brendon Davids finished 1-2 in the Pro UET's second round, Sagebrush Safari.The Big Bear Pro UET will use two laps of the Rock N Road West Series cross country course, which 50 mile racers will do twice. The 50 mile event will start at 10am from La Montana restaurant and have a neutral two mile start as riders make their way out of town and onto the course.
Racers will face approximately 6500 feet of climbing with a mixture of fire road, single track and water crossing over the 50 miles. Lingering snow capped mountains and great weather look to greet riders this weekend.
Team Sho-Air/Specialized leads both the Men’s and Women’s solo classes with riders Eric Bostrom and Monique “Pua” Mata both capturing wins at round two in Lake Morena, California. Both Mata and Bostrom are entered into the June 3rd event and look to protect their series point’s leads at the third round.
But Bostrom and Mata will both face tough competition as the series points chase tightens up. David "Tinker" Juarez (Whittier, Calif./Cannondale Factory) is on the heels of Bostrom, only 25 points back in the men’s standings, while Andrea Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./Mid South Velo) and Sarah Jansen will try to make up some points on Mata on the women’s side.
