Gwangmyeong, Korea (August 10, 2014) —Competition continued at the 2014 UCI Juniors Track World Championships in Gwangmyeong, Korea, on Sunday with American riders taking to the velodrome in several events.

A 10th-place finish by Kirsten Williams (Lonetree, Colo./TWENTY16 Junior Development Team) in the women's individual pursuit led the U.S. effort on the third day of the five-day event. Williams stopped the clock at 2:33.466 in the qualifying round to earn a top-10 finish in the 23-rider field. Australia's Alexandra Manly won the final ahead of Germany's Lisa Klein and Australia's Lauren Perry.

Just missing a top-10 finish in the men's 1km time trial was Dominic Suozzi (San Pedro, Calif./Team Winded Development) who posted the 11th-best time among the 36 riders. Suozzi crossed the line in 1:05.581, just over three seconds behind winner Jiri Janosek of the Czech Republic. Alex Horvet (West Hills, Calif./LUX-Specialized by Cynergy) also competed in the time trial, placing 31st with a time of 1:08.409.

The men's omnium also got underway on Sunday. Thorsten Askervold (Lake Stevens, Wash./HSP) sits in 22nd place at the halfway point after finishing 20th in the scratch race and 21st in both the individual pursuit and elimination race. Australia's Sam Welsford holds the top spot followed by Denmark's Casper Pedersen and France's Valentin Madouas.
