Watch the BMX Supercross World Cup live from CA on Oct. 1
The world’s top BMX riders will meet up in Chula Vista, California, this weekend for the final round of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup. At stake are the overall Supercross titles as well as precious points for USA Cycling’s BMX Power Rankings, which are a primary factor in Olympic selection.
The California Supercross event will be held at the United States Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. The track is a challenging, spiced up replica of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games track and is a favorite amongst the world’s elite.
The winner of the 2010 Chula Vista world cup stop and 2011 third round bronze medalist just weeks ago in London, Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./Haro-Rockstar) will lead the U.S. team into this weekend’s fourth and final stop, ranked ninth in the Supercross BMX World Cup standings. On the women’s side Arielle Martin (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Intense BMX) holds the top spot for the Americans in 10th.
This season’s finale will receive a healthy amount of coverage on TV and online. Universal sports will broadcast 2 hours live in the USA from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. ET on Saturday October 1st. On the same day at 11 am Universal will also re-run the UCI BMX Supercross event staged on London’s Olympic park. Universal Sports viewing details.
In addition Freecaster.com will be webcasting both Friday's Time Trials and Saturday’s finals for all BMX fans around the world. Pan-European broadcaster Eurosport 2 will broadcast the final 2011 BMX event delayed live for the Euro BMX fans and NOS Studio Sport is taking the feed live for use in the Netherlands.
