USA Cycling unveils line-up for SXWC #3-Olympic Test Event

The event will be broadcast on NBC on Sunday, August 21.
The top three riders in the UCI Supercross World Cup standings earned automatic nomination to the team with an additional three men and women awarded discretionary nominations.
After suffering an injury at the recent UCI BMX World Championships, the second-ranked rider in the Supercross (SX) standings and winner of the opening round in South Africa earlier this year, Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./GT Bicycles) will not compete in London, despite being originally named to the team. A strong contingent of five American men will however compete on the Olympic track in London.
Veteran Arielle Martin (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Spanaway, Wash./Intense BMX) will headline the women’s squad as the top ranked American female in the SX standings. Despite the absence of USA Cycling BMX National Champ Alise Post (St. Cloud, Minn./Redline Bicycles), who will not attend due to injury, the U.S. will also send a strong team of five women to London.
The London event will also be the first race to count toward the 2012 USA Cycling Power Rankings which factors into Olympic selection for both men and women.
