2018 USA Cycling BMX Development Program
New for 2018, USA Cycling is reintroducing Devo camps but some changes have been implemented.
We plan to have four, 4 day camps planned during the year. In the summer, we plan on having two camps that we hope will make it easier for riders to attend and families to plan for.
We also plan on Weekend Passes available for those riders that want to just show up over the weekend and ride. USA Cycling is working in conjunction with the new management team here in Chula Vista, CA to provide facility use as well as rooms available for both riders and parents (subject to availability). More details below.
Devo Camps
These young athletes will compete for the opportunity to receive specific high performance training for BMX, access to the Supercross World Cup BMX track(s), and to experience a day in the life of a U.S. Olympic athlete. Furthermore, by providing these opportunities, we hope to progress the skill level needed to be competitive at the highest level of international BMX competition. This will help familiarize them with the bigger, faster, and more demanding style of BMX racing, which is contested at the UCI Supercross World Cup series, the World Championships, and the Olympic Games.
All BMX Development camps will take place at the EAS Training Center in Chula Vista, Ca while utilizing the Supercross BMX tracks, the Chula Vista BMX track, the Skills Development Grounds, and access to the USOC Strength and Conditioning and Sports Performance facilities. Daily classroom education and video review is also a big part of the camps to instruct athletes in the areas of professionalism, sports nutrition, recovery, and training techniques.
Eligible Participants
All athletes participating in the USA Cycling BMX Development camps must be U.S. citizens and compete for the USA at international competitions. All athletes must have an active USA Cycling BMX License to register for BMX Development camps.
All participants must carry and provide proof of health insurance upon athlete check-in at the Chula Vista Training Center.
Qualifying Rules
All rules regarding age class participation and qualifying events will use the current year USA BMX rule book.
