Two national records set at Pan Am Continental Championships
Madalyn Godby (Louisville, Colo./enCompass Racing) captured the bronze medal in the women's 500-meter time trial with a national record time of 34.300, besting the previous mark of 34.426 set by Tammy Thomas in Mexico City in 2001. Missy Erickson (Alexandria, Minn./Momentum Coaching Group p/b Atomic) placed sixth in 35.448.
In the men's team sprint, the trio of Nathan Koch (Los Alamitos, Calif./Bike Religion), Matthew Baranoski (Perkasie, Pa./Pure Energy Cycling) and Kevin Mansker (Long Beach, Calif./Rubicon Cycling) set a national record with a time of 44.031 to finish with the bronze medal behind the teams from Venezuela and Canada. The previous record was 44.036 set in Guadalajara in 2011 by the team of Dean Tracy, Michael Blatchford and Jimmy Watkins.
A third bronze medal was captured by Elizabeth Newell (Oakland, Calif./NOW and Novartis for MS) in the women's individual pursuit.
The Pan Am Continental Championships continue through Sunday.
