Three medals for Americans in the downhill races at the MTB World Cup opener

Aaron Gwin (Wildomar, Calif./Specialized Racing DH) won the elite men's downhill race with a time of 3:59.344 ahead of Michael Hannah (AUS) and Greg Minnaar (RSA). American Neko Mulally (Pisgah Forest, NC/Trek World Racing) also posted an impressive time in the men's race, finishing 6.361 off of Gwin's pace for eighth-place. Eliot Jackson (West Lake Village, Calif./Pivot Factory DH Team) was 52nd for the USA.
Luca Shaw (SRAM/TLD Racing) descended to the top step of the podium in the junior men's race when he posted a time of 4:15.267. He bested a pair of Frenchmen, Loris Vergier and Amaury Pierron, who were second and third respectively.
Jill Kintner (Seattle, Wash./Team Norco Intl.) clocked the third fastest time in the elite women's race for the bronze medal, descending to the finish 9.118 off the pace of winner Manon Carpenter (GBR) who completed the course in 4:34.923. Rachel Atherton (GBR) collected the silver medal.
