The first-ever junior women’s team pursuit national title highlighted Friday’s competition at the Richardson Bike Mart USA Cycling Juniors Track National Championships inside the Superdrome in Frisco, Texas.

The 17-18 men’s and women’s points race and sprint championship contests also headlined off another hot, central Texas day where six national titles were awarded along with scratch race competition championships in younger age divisions.

The trio of Addyson Albershardt (Matthews, N.C./FLYING PIGS), Jacqueline Denny (Liberty, Mo./FLYING PIGS) and  omnium champion Kate Wilson (Los Angeles, Calif./FLYING PIGS) set a new national record at 03:59.1, winning the first-ever women-only junior team pursuit national title. On the men’s side Gregory Daniel (Englewood, Colo./Chipotle Junior Development Team), Mathew Lipscomb (Decatur, Ga./Greenville Spinners Bicycle Club-Hincapie Development team), Paul Lynch (Colchester, Conn./Hot Tubes Development Cycling Team) and Thomas Wrona (Pinehurst, N.C./Hot Tubes Development Cycling Team) added to their Stars-and Stripes collection.

The men’s and women’s 17-18 points race capped off a quick morning session with Andrew Lanier Jr. (Gilroy, Calif./Team Specialized Racing) and William Rader (Dallas, TX /Metro Volkswagen-FCS Cycling Team) lapping the field not once, but twice to take home gold and silver in the men’s event. In the women’s event Jennifer Valente (San Diego, Calif./Adams Avenue Bicycles/) grabbed her second title of the week, just holding off Wilson from her third.

Yesterday’s kilo winner Matthew Baranoski (Perkasie, Pa./Pure Energy Cycling-ProAirHFA) pulled off another impressive victory, edging Kaleb Koch (Glenview, Ill./Nova Cycle Sports Foundation Inc.-ISCorp Cycling Team) for the men’s sprint title as Valente racked up another in the women’s event, this time over a surging Chloe Chepigin (Chappaqua, N.Y./Young Medalists-Team Rothrock).
