Race Director Continuing Education and Certification Renewal

RACE DIRECTOR CERTIFICATION RENEWAL

Certification is valid for up to two years, and expires on December 31 of the second year. Example, you are certified March 15, 2015. Your certification will expire December 31, 2016.

(NOTE: CEU requirements for certified race directors are suspended for 2016. Certification expiration dates have been automatically extended for one year for all race directors who held an active certification on November 1, 2015.)
  • Certification renewal requires completion of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) – 5 CEUs for Level C certification, 10 CEUs for Level B and National/International Level race directors.
  • The certified race director must continue to be listed as an event organizer for a licensed club or organization or must purchase their own race director license.
  • The certified race director must have organized at least one event per year during the certification period and must not be delinquent with any fees or reports related to the event.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

  • Each race director is responsible for maintaining a record of their earned CEUs.
  • Webinars and other CEU opportunities hosted by USA Cycling will automatically be added to participant records.
  • Receiving credit for non-USAC webinars, classes, or other training will require providing documentation of program attendance to the Race Director Education Manager.
  • Race directors may submit documentation of credit earned at any point during the certification period.
  • Eligible CEUs are those acquired since the last certification or certification renewal date.

USA Cycling approves many seminars and clinics for CEU credit offered by third parties. If you are interested in attending an outside seminar or clinic and are looking for CEU credit please email the Race Director Education Manager with an agenda or other information about the seminar or clinic so that a determination can be made. Examples of approved training can be found here.

USA Cycling upcoming and recorded webinars can be found here.
