ProXCT: Early leaders emerge in U.S. Cup, ProXCT standings
(March 26, 2015) – Anton Cooper (NZL/Cannondale Factory Racing) and Katerina Nash (CZE/Luna Pro Team) picked up the early men’s and women’s U.S. Cup presented by Cannondale leads, while Canadians Raphael Gagne (CAN) and Emily Batty (CAN/Trek Factory Racing Team) top the Pro MTB Cross-Country Tour (Pro XCT) after the March 14 Bonelli Park XC #1 in San Dimas, Calif., and March 21 Fontana XC in Fontana, Calif.
U.S. Cup
Cooper jumped ahead in the men’s U.S. Cup standings after picking up third- and first-place finishes at Bonelli Park and Fontana to collect 75 points. Gagne stands second with 67 points following respective gold and silver efforts, while Manuel Fumic (GER/Cannondale Factory Racing), Sergio Mantecon-Gutierrez (ESP/Trek Factory Racing) and Max Plaxton (CAN/SHO-AIR-Cannondale) each collected 49 points for a three-way tie for third.
Nash’s Fontana win propelled the Czech native to 70 points and first place in the women’s U.S. Cup standings after two weekends. Batty trails in second with 64 points with respective podium finishes to open the 2015 season, while Georgia Gould (Fort Collins, Colo./LUNA Pro Team) stands third with 62 points with third- and second-place finishes at Bonelli and Fontana. Catherine Pendrel (CAN/LUNA Pro Team) stands fourth with 58 points, and Chloe Woodruff (Prescott, Ariz./Team Stan’s NOTUBES-NINER) rounds out the women’s top 5 with 47 points.
Pro XCT
Gagne stands first in the men’s Pro XCT standings with 140 points after his two podiums, followed by Cooper with 120. Plaxton’s silver at Bonelli Park helped him to a third-place 76 points, followed by Fumic and Mantecon-Gutierrez, who stand tied for fourth with 50 points.
Batty collected 120 points in the first two weeks of competition on the heels of her Bonelli Park XC #1 win and bronze medal at Fontana XC. Gould and Nash share second with 100 points, followed by Pendrel’s 90 points are good for fourth, and Woodruff stands fifth with 45 points.
