Pua Mata expands Pro UET lead as men's standings tighten up
The USA Cycling Professional Mountain Bike Ultra-Endurance Tour (Pro UET) returned to action with the Firecracker 50 in Breckenridge, Colo., on July 4.

After winning the Firecracker 50, Colin Cares (Boulder, Colo./Kenda-Felt) joined Manny Prado (Huntington Beach, Calif./Team Sho-air) atop the Pro UET men's standings. Jonathan Schottler (Columbia, Mo./Michelob Ultra-Big Shark) and Jay Henry (Avon, Colo.) are in a dead heat for third while Lee Unwin (Verona, Wisc.) and Kelly Magelky (Golden, Colo./Honey Stinger-Trek) are knotted for fifth.
The 23-year-old Cares was one of only two riders to complete the highly-technical, 54-mile course in less than four hours. Henry, who placed second in the final results was one minute behind Cares for second place. The course, which was modified to account for large amounts of snow and wet conditions, was contested on two laps of a 27-mile singletrack loop.

Pua Mata (Huntington Beach, Calif./Team Sho-air) bolstered her lead in the women's Pro UET standings with a win at the Firecracker 50 in Breckenridge, Colo. She leads the Pro UET women's standings by 80 points over Andrea Wilson (Cordova, Tenn./Mid South Velo) and Jennifer Smith (Gunnsion, Colo./Alpine Orthopaedics), who are tied for second place.
Mata rode away with the win in the women's race, completing the 54-mile course nearly 20 minutes faster than Smith.
Mata recently placed eighth in the 2011 Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships in Montebelluna, Italy, before competing in Breckenridge.

Plaxton & Gould solidify Pro XCT leads
With only the Missoula XC in Missoula, Mont., remaining on USA Cycling's Pro Mountain Bike Cross-Country calendar (Pro XCT) on July 23, Max Plaxton (CAN/Specialized Racing USA) and Georgia Gould (Fort Collins, Colo./Luna Pro Team) lead the men's and women's standings.
Plaxton holds a 60-point cushion on Todd Wells (Durango, Colo./Specialized) while Lea Davison (Jericho, Vt./Specialized) is only 10 points behind Gould.

After Wildflower Rush Warren tops men's Pro GRT standings; Kintner extends her lead on women
As USA Cycling's Pro Gravity calendar (Pro GRT) winds to it's finale, the Northstar Downhill, on Aug. 27-28 at Northstar at Tahoe, Cody Warren (Alpine, Calif./DRD X-Fusion Intense) and Jill Kintner (Ferndale, Wash./Transition Racing) lead the men's and women's standings.
Warren holds a narrow lead of only four points on Aaron Gwin (Temecula, Calif./Trek World Racing) in the men's standings. Kintner's lead of 80 points on Jacqueline Harmony (Sedona, Ariz./All Mountain Cyclery-Vixen Racing) is more substantial.
