(July 24, 2014) -- Alison Zimmer (Lincoln, Vt./VT Gravity Racing-Xprezo) and Kevin Aiello (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./KHS Factory Racing) claimed the top spots in the 2014 USA Cycling Pro Gravity Tour (Pro GRT) standings after podium finishes at the penultimate Pro GRT event, the Bikes, Brews and Views at Beech Mountain, N.C., on July 20.

Zimmer entered the event in a tie with Lauren Daney (Stafford, Va.) atop the women's Pro GRT standings, but now finds herself with a 23-point lead after a winning run at Beech Mountain. Zimmer blasted down the muddy course more than 12 seconds faster than runner-up Rae Gandolf (Zanesville, Ohio/Team Kona Bikes-Kenda-HWB Cycling), who now moves from third place in the standings to second with 137 points. Daney, who did not compete at Beech Mountain, holds down the third spot with 100 points, followed by Elinor Wesner (Cresskill, N.J./Giant-Shimano-Tenafly) close behind in fourth with 95 points after a third-place finish at Bikes, Brews and Views. Amanda Batty (Park City, Utah/The Joint Chiropractic-Gnarly Nutrition-Discrete) moves into the top five with 65 points following a fourth-place effort at Beech Mountain.

On the men's side, Aiello vaulted from third place to first place in the men's Pro GRT standings after placing second at Bikes, Brews and Views. Aiello's 153 total points moves him past Neko Mulally (Pisgah, N.C./Trek World Racing) and Aaron Gwin (Wildomar, Calif./Specialized Racing), who were both idle this week. Mulally has 130 points and Gwin has 120. Bikes, Brews and Views winner Max Morgan (Duluth, Ga./Billy Goat Bikes-Mountain Khakis) moves up one spot in the standings to fourth place with 110 points, while Logan Binggeli (Saint George, Utah/KHS Factory Racing) drops one spot to fifth with 90 points.
