Pro CX: Shuffled standings after five-event week

With five races on the calendar, including one race that offered triple standings points, the USA Cycling Professional Cyclo-cross Calendar (Pro CX) kicked into a higher gear in the past week. The action started in Las Vegas, Nev., with Clif ® Bar CrossVegas on Thursday night, the first UCI-ranked C1 race on the calendar. The action continued with a pair of races on Saturday and Sunday. In Waterloo, Wis., riders contested the Trek Cyclo-cross Collective Cup while other riders competed in the Charm City Cross in Baltimore, Md.

Jeremy Powers (Easthampton, Mass./Rapha-Focus) won one of the races in Wisconsin after placing second in Las Vegas to propel him to the top spot of the Pro CX men's standings with 178 points. Timothy Johnson (Topsfield, Mass./Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld) moved up from fifth place in last week's standings to second place this week. Johnson placed fifth and second at the two races in Wisconsin after placing seventh in Las Vegas to collect 98 points in a week and assume second place with 163 points. Stephen Hyde (Edgartown,, Mass./JAM Fund-NCC) slipped down one spot in the standings into third place with 156 points. Hyde outsprinted defending national champion Jonathan Page (Northfield, N.H./ENG VT) to win Sunday's race in Maryland after placing third in Saturday's contest. Ryan Trebon (Bend, Ore./Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com) collected three top-five results over the week placing fourth on Thrusday before finishing second and fifth in the two races in Wisconsin. Trebon sits in fourth place with 149 points, only seven points behind Hyde. Lukas Winterberg (SUI/Mueller Landscape-BH Bikes) rounds out the top five with 125 points after second and sixth in the two competitions in Maryland.

Gabriella Day (GBR/Rapha-Focus) remains the leader of the Pro CX women's standings with 189 points. Day recorded 101 points in the past week by finishing seventh in Las Vegas before placing second and fourth in Wisconsin. She leads the 2012-13 Pro CX women's standings winner Helen Wyman (GBR/Kona Factory Racing) by 49 points. Wyman swept the women's races in Baltimore to add 70 points to her season-long total. Arley Kemmerer (Saylorsburg, Pa./C3-Twenty20 Cycling Co.) dropped one spot in the standings into third place with 131 points, only nine points behind Wyman, but just two points ahead of Maghalie Rochette (CAN/Cyclocrossworld.com). Kemmerer finished second and third in the two Maryland races to amass 56 points. Rochette added 69 points to her total in the last week, giving her 129 points for the season. Rochette finished tenth in Las Vegas before placing sixth in each of the races in Wisconsin. Meredith Miller (Boulder, Colo./California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized) registered three strong results to move into fifth place of the standings with 122 points. Miller started her week finishing fourth in Clif (R) Bar CrossVegas before placing fourth in Saturday's race in Wisconsin and second in Sunday's contest.
