Phinney and Talansky are 15th and 16th in worlds time trial

2010 U23 time trial world champ Taylor Phinney posted a 57:36.43 in this year's elite men's time trial for 15th place.
The time trial was dominated by German rider Tony Martin, who clocked a time of 0:53:43.85 over the 46.4 kilometers to win his very first rainbow jersey. Grabbing the silver and bronze medals were Bradley Wiggins (GBR) and Fabian Cancellara (SUI).
Phinney, who won the U23 men’s time trial at last year’s world championships, completed the time test three minutes and 52 seconds off of Martin’s winning pace while Talansky finished three minutes and 57 seconds behind the gold medal. Talansky, whose start time was among the opening third, spent some time in the hot seat with the third best time as he crossed the line.
Action will resume in Denmark on Friday as the road race portion of the competition gets underway with the junior women's and U23 road races.
The U.S. team has added John Murphy (Athens, Ga./BMC Racing) to its roster for Sunday’s elite men’s road race and Amanda Miller (Fort Collins, Colo./HTC-Highroad) for Saturday’s elite women’s event.
