Missoula, Mont. (October 22, 2017) – The third and final day of the 2017 Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships was held on Marshall Mountain Sunday with the varsity short track cross country races as well as the team relays conducted on muddy terrain.

SHORT TRACK CROSS COUNTRY

In the men’s varsity contest, Stephan Davoust (Fort Lewis College) earned the short track national title ahead of Fort Lewis teammate Cole Paton and Carson Beckett (Brevard College). Davoust’s winning time was 27:27.10, eight seconds faster than Paton and 18 seconds ahead of Beckett.

The women’s varsity short track race saw Hannah Finchamp (Lindenwood University) successfully defend her title, crossing the line just over a second ahead of Emma Swartz (Marian University). Mackenzie Myatt (Savannah College of Art and Design), who won Friday’s cross country title ahead of Finchamp, placed third, eight seconds back.

The University of Colorado Boulder made a successful defense of its club team relay title on Sunday with a winning time of 20:28.48. The University of Vermont captured the silver medal for the second straight year with a time of 21:40.09, while Stanford University came away with the bronze medal in 22:40.06.

Fort Lewis College overcame last year’s runner-up finish to Brevard College by winning this year’s varsity team relay in a time of 19:19.04. Brevard came in second in 19:34.72, while Savannah College of Art and Design repeated as bronze medalists as they nipped the team from Colorado Mesa University at the line for third place.

OMNIUMS

Short track cross-country, downhill, cross-country, dual slalom, and the team relays all factored in to the team omnium scores and four teams rode off with those top prizes on Sunday.

The D1 club team omnium went to the University of Colorado Boulder for the second straight year with a total of 846 points, and the D2 club team omnium went to the University of Vermont with 598 points.

Fort Lewis College won the D1 varsity team omnium with 763 points and Western State Colorado University won the D2 varsity team omnium with 399 points. For complete team omnium scores, click here.

Individual omnium titles were also awarded to Emily Schaldach (University of Colorado Boulder), a repeat champion, and Zach Calton (University of Utah) in D1, and to Angelina Palermo (Marian University) and Walker Shaw (Brevard College) in D2. For complete individual omnium scores, click here.
