NTC: Juggled standings after Fixed Gear Classic
The USA Cycling National Track Calendar (NTC) continued with its second event, the Fixed Gear Classic at the NSC Velodrome in Blaine, Minn. Plenty of NTC standings points were up for grabs as riders contested three sprint events (match sprint, team sprint and keirin) as well as three endurance contests (points race, scratch race and Madison).

ENDURANCE
The NTC men's endurance standings leader remains Zack Carlson (Plano, Texas/Matrix-Richardson Bike Mart) with 40 points. Only three points behind him is Franco Marvulli (SUI), who posted three top-three finishes, including teaming with Zachary Kovalcik (Portland, Ore./Sizzle Pie Cycling p/b Veloforma) to win the Madison. Jean-Michel Lachance (CAN/Rossetti Devo Cycling Team), who won the scratch race, racked up 32 points points. Chris Carlson (Plano, Texas/Matrix-Richardson Bike Mart) also has 32 points, but Lachance has a race win to break the tie, forcing Chris Carlson into fourth place. The fifth-place rider, with 31 points, is the winner of the points race in Minnesota, Leon Van Bon (NED/Raalte Netherlands AA Drink).
The women contested a pair of points races and a scratch race in Minnesota. Lauren Stephens (Dallas, Texas/FCS-Rouse: p/b Mr. Restore) jumped from second into first place of the NTC women's endurance standings with 71 points. Stephens, who swept the three races at the Matrix Cup p/b Richardson Bike Mart in May, added 26 points to her total after placing second in one points race and third in the scratch race. The new second-place rider, after winning both points races and placing second in the scratch race, is Cari Higgins (Boulder, Colo./Exergy Twenty12). Higgins trails Stephens by 29 points, but holds a three-point edge on third-place Suzie Goodwin (McKinney, Texas/Crest-Richardson Bike Mart Cycling). Cindi Vargas (Humble, Texas/Matrix-Richardson Bike Mart) and Shelby Reynolds (Cypress, Texas/Helens-Cannondale) round out the top five with 28 and 26 points, respectively.
SPRINT
The top five of the NTC men's sprint standings features five different names from the previous standings. Jonathan Fraley (Menomonee Falls, Wisc./WDT-Allvoi International Cycling Team), who won the keirin, team sprint and placed second in the match sprint, racked up 42 points to top the standings. Fraley's teammate in the team sprint, Danny Robertson (Rolling Meadows, Ill./WDT-Allvoi International Cycling Team), is tied for second in the standings with 30 points after adding the win in match sprint to his team sprint victory. Jeffrey Whiteman (Chicago, Ill./Flatlandia Cycling Team) is knotted with Robertson with 30 points after placing second in the keirin, third in the team sprint and fourth in the match sprint. Jason Garner (Glenview, Ill./George Garner Cyclery Track Team) and Jesse Marans (Irvine, Calif./Ritte Van Vlaanderen) round out the top five with 22 and 21 points, respectively.
