NRC: Mancebo regains, Powers retains NRC leads
The focus of the USA Cycling Pro National Racing Calendar (NRC) moved to New Mexico for the 27th Annual Silver City's Tour of the Gila powered by SRAM from May 1-5. After five days of stellar racing, there is a new leader and strong competition for standings points on the seven-event NRC.

Francisco Mancebo (ESP/5-Hour Energy p/b Kenda) finished third in the general classification to earn 184 points and regain the top spot of the NRC men's standings with 594 points. The previous leader, Chad Haga (Colorado Springs, Colo./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies), is now in second place with 420 points. Matt Cooke (Boulder, Colo./Champion System p/b Stan's NoTubes) finished fourth overall in New Mexico and now is in third place with 286 points, only 14 points ahead of Thomas Zirbel (Boulder, Colo./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies). The winner of the men's general classification, Philip Deignan (IRL/UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling), is in fifth place with 270 points after his performance in New Mexico.

Bolstered in part by Mancebo's performance, 5-Hour Energy p/b Kenda now leads the NRC men's team standings by 102 points, breaking last week's tie with Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies. Jamis Hagens Berman is in third place with 664 points, 122 out of second place and 138 points ahead of Bissell Cycling. UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling rounds out the top five teams with 428 points.
The battle for the top spot of the NRC women's team standings remains competitive following the race in New Mexico. With 1,050 points, NOW and Novartis remains in first by only 48 points as Team TIBCO-To the Top is keeping pace with 1,002 points. Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies sits in third place with 776, 110 points ahead of Exergy TWENTY16. FCS-Cycling: p/b Zngine Mr. Restore dropped one spot into fifth place with 282 points.
