NRC: Mancebo, Powers remain in charge after Manayunk climb
The USA Cycling National Racing Calendar (NRC) reached the midpoint of the eight-event season on Sunday with the Parx Casino Philly Cycling Classic in Philadelphia. After the riders tangled with the Manayunk Wall in Philly, worthy men's and women's winners were crowned and the cream of the crop surfaced atop the NRC standings.
Francisco Mancebo (ESP/5-Hour Energy p/b Kenda) remains atop the NRC men's standings with 674 points after placing seventh in the race on Sunday. Chad Haga (Colorado Springs, Colo./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) sits in second place, 254 points behind Mancebo and 92 points ahead of the third-place Joseph Rosskopf (Athens, Ga./Hincapie Sportswear Development Team). Rosskopf's 328 points is only 30 points ahead of Matthew Cooke (Boulder, Colo./Champion System p/b Stan's NoTubes) and 36 points more than Tom Zirbel (Boulder, Colo./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies).
Alison Powers (Pinecliffe, Colo./NOW and Novartis for MS) won the sprint classification and placed sixth in the Queen of the Mountain classification to boost her season-long total to 730 points and remain atop the NRC women's standings. Claudia Haeusler (GER/Team TIBCO-To the Top) and Joelle Numainville (CAN/Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) remain in second and third places with 648 and 528 points, respectively. Mara Abbott (Boulder, Colo./Exergy TWENTY16) added 100 points to her season-long total to hold on to fourth place with 490 points and Shelley Olds (Gilroy, Calif./Team TIBCO-To the Top) rounds out the top five with 358 points.

Team TIBCO-To the Top overtook NOW and Novartis for MS and now leads the NRC women's team standings with 1,294 points. NOW and Novartis for MS is only 112 points out of the top spot and 196 points ahead of the third-place Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies. Exergy TWENTY16 holds fourth place with 778 points while Specialized-lululemon rounds out the top five with 434 points.
