PoolGel Elite Nationals and Selection Race
Colorado Springs, Colo. (May 7, 2004)--USA Cycling and Redlands Bicycle Classic Inc. announced today the title sponsor for the 2004 USCF Elite National Championships and Team USA Selection Race. PoolGel , a technologically advanced pool care product company based in Loma Linda, Calif., will support the series of races in nearby Redlands, Calif. that will result in four USCF national championships and three automatic nominations to the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team.
This is standard procedure, said Redlands Bicycle Classic Inc. Executive Director Craig Kundig in reference to the local support the event has attracted. Traditionally, in the 20-year history of the Redlands Bicycle Classic, 90% of our sponsorship has come from our own backyard and the community support has always been phenomenal, so I'm not at all surprised by the tremendous support of yet another local business. PoolGel is a great fit for the event because it prides itself on its environmental standards much like cycling is an environmentally friendly activity. We're simply excited at their involvement.
The PoolGel USCF Elite National Championships and Team USA Selection Race in Redlands, Calif. June 16-19 will attract the nation's attention as three members of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team will be nominated through a victory in each of three separate races, beginning on June 17 with the elite women's time trial. On June 19, the elite womem's road race and the men's Team USA Selection Race will also result in Olympic nominations to the respective winners.
In addition to national championships being awarded in the elite women's time trial and road race events, national titles will also be on the line in the elite men's road race on June 16, and the elite men's time trial on June 17.
Also included on the schedule are two junior races, one road race and one time trial, which will contribute to the selection of the junior world championship team that will represent the U.S later this year at the UCI Road World Championships in Verona, Italy. The junior races are part of a series of events throughout the year that are used in the selection process.
