Junior National Track Champs - Day Three
Day three of the Junior National Track Championships continued yesterday at the Alkek Velodrome in Houston, Texas and provided another day of intense competition showcasing the future of American track cycling. Kicking off the morning session was junior men's 17-18 Kilo which was won by Aaron Kacala (Racine, WI) in a time of 1h09m. In the first final of the evening session, Mandy Marquardt (Plantation, FL) took home a national championship in the 500m time trial for the junior women 10-12 category. In the junior 13-14 division, the 5km scratch race saw Lauren Shirock (Emmaus, PA) and Shane Kline (Bally, PA) take home national titles in the women's and men's competitions respectively. Kimberly Geist (Emmaus, PA) captured the junior women 15-16 2km scratch final in a time of 3h17:12s while Chris Ruhl won the junior men 15-16 15km points race final with 28 points. Rachel Herring (New Tripoli, PA) took home first place in the junior women's 17-18 7.5km scratch final. The event concludes on Saturday. |
