Jr Track Nat'ls Continue at Alkek Velodrome
HOUSTON (July 11, 2003) – The 2003 Junior Track National Championships continued at the Alkek velodrome Thursday with several event finals including the men’s 17-18 3 km pursuit. Zak Grabowski (Lafayette, Colo.) added yet another national championship jersey to his name clinching the victory in the men’s 17-18 3 km pursuit. Tucker Brown (Fleetwood, Pa.) was runner-up to Grabowski with David Fleischhauer (Olympia, Wash.) capturing third. The women’s 17-18 2 km pursuit saw Larssyn Staley (Beaverton, Ore.) take the stars and stripes jersey with Kim Geist (Emmaus, Pa.) at second and Mary Geier (Marion, Ind.) securing third. In the men’s 500 m time trial, Daniel Holloway (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) captured the gold medal with Chris Ruhl (Quakertown, Pa.) finishing second. Alex Phonxay Keomany (Ypslianti, Mich.) placed third. In men’s 13-14 action, the points race brought Shane Kline (Bally, Pa.) another podium spot, claiming the gold medal over runner-up Alex Coehlo (Loveland, Colo.). David Engwis (Kenosha, Wis.) rounded out the podium in third. The women’s 13-14 points race saw Lauren Shirock (Emmaus, PA.) clinch another national championship jersey with the victory. Colleen Hayduk (Kutztwon, Pa.) followed in second with Samantha Schneider (West Allis, Wis.) securing third. The men’s 10-12 scratch race went off under the lights of the Alkek velodrome with another national title going to Njisane Phillip (Miami, Fla.). Second-place went to Benny Swedberg (Kent, Wash.) with the bronze awarded to Lawson Craddock (Houston, Texas). Racing continues
