Three USA Cycling Development Program riders on the podium abroad over the weekend
USA Cycling's junior development rider, Lawson Craddock (Houston, Texas/Hot Tubes), grabbed two stage wins and the overall at the Trofeo Karlsberg. A group of junior women contested a Swiss Racer Bikes Cup event in Switzerland. USA Cycling's U23 mountain bike development program riders competed in the same event in Switzerland while two sets of U23 athletes took to the road over the weekend. Ben King (North Garden, Va.) was third overall at the Coupe des Nations in Canada while Andrew Talansky (Napa, Calif./California Giant Berry Farms-Specialized) won a stage and took second overall in the Vuelta Tarragona.

USA Cycling's Junior Development Program fielded a squad of six for the the Trofeo Karlsberg in Germany, June 3-6: Lawson Craddock, Anders Newbury (Fairfield, Vt./Hot Tubes), Ryan Eastman (Petaluma, Calif./All Sport-Team Swift), Kristopher Jorgenson (Boise, Idaho), Nathan Geoffrion (Petaluma, Calif./All Sport-Team Swift), and Benny Swedberg (Kent, Wash./Rad Racing).
After winning the stage two road race and the stage 3a individual time trial, Lawson Craddock grabbed the overall classification at the Junior Nation's Cup event. Click here for the event's website, or click here to see the complete results on the UCI website.
Connie Carpenter took a group of junior women to Champery, Switzerland over the weekend to race in the Swiss Racer Bikes Cup junior cross country event. The ladies wearing the red, white, and blue for the event were Alicia Rose Pastore (Durango, Colo./Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory), Erin Wesley Geer, Linnea Dixson (Steamboat Springs, Colo.), Megan Kane, and Ellie Atkins (Boulder, Colo.).
The highest placed rider for the team was Alicia Rose Pastore who was ninth. She was followed by Erin Wesley Geer in 11th, Linnea Dixson in 12th, Megan Kane in 14th, and Ellie Atkins in 17th.
u23 national development program
USA Cycling fielded six U23 riders for the Coupe des Nations event in Canada, June 3-6: Benjamin King, Carson Miller (Bend, Ore.), Corey Farrell (Camarillo, Calif.), Cole House (Oneida, Wis.), Gavin Mannion (Dedham, Mass./Trek-Livestrong), and Nick Keough (Sandwich, Mass.).
Benjamin King was third in the general classification after the event's four stages. Gavin Mannion produced the top stage result for the team with a fourth-place effort in stage four and a 37th-place finish overall. Carson Miller was 10th overall while Cole House was 42nd. Also representing USA Cycling's Development Programs over the weekend was the U23 team competing in the Vuelta Tarragona in Spain, June 1-5: Andrew Talansky, Carter Jones (Boulder, Colo.), Rob Squire (Sandy, Utah/Felt-Holowesko), Larry Warbasse (Traverse City, Mich./BMC Racing Team), Jacob Rathe (Portland, Ore.), and Erik Slack (Boise, Idaho). Andrew Talansky was the top rider for the team, winning stage two of the event and riding to second-place overall in the general classification. Carter Jones also won a stage for the U.S. contingent, taking victory in stage 5b and finishing in 21st overall. Rob Squire was 17th while Jacob Rathe was 46th. On June 6, USA Cycling fielded six U23 mountain bikers for the Champery, Switzerland Swiss Racer Bikes Cup event. Russell Finsterwald (Colorado Springs, Colo./Subaru-Gary Fisher), Kerry Werner (Banner Elk, N.C./Shirks -Trek Bikes), Jack Hinkens (Edenprairie, Minn./Trek), Gregory Carpenter (Canton, Conn./3D Racing), Kevin Kane (Dylan, Colo.), and Zach McDonald (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Classic Cycles).
The category 1 UCI race saw Jack Hinkens and Kerry Warner post strong results as first-year U23 riders. The pair crossed the line in 21st and 22nd respectively. They were followed by teammates Russell Finsterwald and Gregory Carpenter who were one lap down, finishing in 33rd and 36th. Click here for complete results on the UCI website.
development camps
Three USA Cycling Regional Road Development Camps are presently underway - one in Mountain City, Ga., one at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and the third at Furman University in Greenville, S.C. The camps are running June 6-11.

Next up for junior riders will be a Bundesliga German National mountain bike race on Sunday, June 13 and then another Swiss Racer Bikes Cup series event the following weekend. The riders for these events will be: Seth Kemp (Campobello, S.C.), Payson McElveen (Austin, Texas), Jeremiah Dyer (Valdese, N.C.), Skyler Truijillo (Fort Collins, Colo.), and Ryan Standish (Los Angeles, Calif.).
Right now, USA Cycling's National Development Program U23 athletes are in Italy, training for their next big event. Larry Warbasse, Andrew Talansky, Erik Slack, Jacob Rathe (Portland, Ore.), Carter Jones (Boulder, Colo.), and Chase Pinkham (Salt Lake City, Utah) will don the red, white, and blue for the Tour de Pays Savoie.
