Qualification process for Elite Track Nationals posted online

Colorado Springs, Colo. (May 19, 2010) – The qualification process for the 2010 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships has been posted online. For the sixth year in a row, regional championship events at velodromes across the nation will qualify elite level track cyclists to compete for national titles.

All male cyclists who hold a valid USA Cycling or UCI international racing license, and have a racing age of 17 or above may compete in the time trial qualification events. For the men’s mass start qualification events, a rider must be a category 3 or above on the track. Female cyclists with a valid license and a racing age of 17 or above may compete in all qualification events.

The 2010 Elite Track National Championships velodrome qualifying schedule is as follows:

July 16-17:
Major Taylor Elite Qualifier – Indianapolis, Ind.
July 30-31:
Michigan State Track Championships – Rochester Hills, Mich.
July 31:
Far West Championships – Encino, Calif.
July 31 – Aug.1:
Colorado Elite State Championships/National Qualifier – Colorado Springs, Colo.
August 6-7:
Marymoor Elite National Qualifiers – Redmond, Wash.
August 14:
Alpenrose Velodrome National Qualifer – Portland, Ore.
August 14:
DLV Regional Championships – East Point, Ga.
August 14:
National Sports Center Velodrome Qualifers – Blaine, Minn.
August 21-22:
Illinois State Championships/Elite Qualifiers – Chicago, Ill.
Aug. 27-28:
Northern California State Championships/National Qualifier – San Jose, Calif.
September 11-12:
LA Velodrome National Qualifiers – Carson, Calif.
September 17:
Superdrome Elite Qualifiers – Frisco, Texas

The USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships are slated for Sept. 29 – Oct. 3 at the ADT Event Center Velodrome in suburban L.A. For more information about the qualification procedures for this event, please click here.
