New sport to debut for Wisconsin schools

  
  


Custer, Wis. (Aug. 7, 2013) -- The first-ever Wisconsin Interscholastic Mountain Bike Championships will be held at Cascade Mountain in Portage, Wis., Sept. 28, 2013.  This will be the inaugural event for WIN Cycling, a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing mountain clubs and teams in Wisconsin schools. The event is open to students 12-18 years old and will include both individual and team competition. Interested individuals should contact Kathy Mock at Kathy@wincycling.org for help with getting a club/team started at your school or perhaps joining a composite club/team that may be forming in your area.
 
Student may participate in this championship as a member of a school club or team, a composite club or team (one made up of students from several school within close proximity) or as an independent racer. Championships will be awarded to teams overall and individual divisions. Participants must register online at www.swiftentry.com/event/115.
 
The Cascade Challenge is a test event for WIN Cycling as it prepares to roll out a four-race interscholastic mountain bike race series in the fall of 2014. Sponsors include the Wisconsin Off Road Series (WORS), Trek Bicycle Corporation, and Mt. Borah.
