NCC: Keough, Allar continue top-ranked reign

  
  


(July 25, 2014) -- Luke Keough (Sandwich, Mass./UnitedHealthcare) and Erica Allar (Tucson, Ariz./Colavita-Fine Cooking) tightened their respective grips on the men’s and women’s USA Cycling National Criterium Calendar (NCC) standings following the July 19 criterium at the Intelligentsia Cup Prairie State Cycling Series in Lake Bluff, Ill., on July 19.
 
MEN’S

Keough showed no signs of wavering in the standings after chalking a fifth-place result at the criterium, bringing his top point total to 594 and increasing his lead to 111 points with three events remaining. Daniel Holloway (Morgan Hill, Calif./Athlete Octane Cycling) made moves in the standings, jumping from third to second with a sixth-place finish, giving him 483 points. Kenneth Hanson (San Diego, Calif./UnitedHealthcare) dropped from second to third after not recording any points this week, while Isaac Howe (Winooski, Vt./Champion System-Stan's No Tubes) and Adam Myerson (Boston, Mass./SmartStop Pro Cycling) retained their respective fourth- and fifth-place standings at 376 and 375 points.
 
WOMEN’S
 
Allar also padded her lead in the women’s standings thanks to a win in Lake Bluff. Allar, who has lead regularly throughout the 2014 NCC season, now has 907 total points and a 263-point lead. Tina Pic (Hailey, Idaho/Fearless Femme) remained in second with 644 points after placing second at the criterium, and Laura Van Gilder (Cresco, Pa./Van Dessel Factory Team p/b Mellow Mushroom) held onto her third-place standing with 552 points following her sixth-place effort at the Intelligentsia Cup Prairie State Cycling Series criterium. Coryn Rivera (Tustin, Calif./UnitedHealthcare) still stood fourth with 430 points despite not recording any points at the event, while Samantha Schneider (Milwaukee, Wis./TIBCO-To the Top) worked her way back into the top five with 402 points after taking third at the criterium.

The men’s and women’s standings remained unchanged following the Intelligentsia Cup Prairie State Cycling Series. UnitedHealthcare continued its dominance in the men’s standings with 2399 points, which was again increased with two top-five finishes at the event. Athlete Octane Cycling remained in second with 818 points following Chad Hartley’s (Fox Point, Wis./Athlete Octane Cycling) third-place criterium finish, while Astellas Cycling Team held onto third with 762 points on Hogan Sills’ (Champaign, Ill./Astellas Cycling Team) criterium silver medal. Champion System-Stan’s NoTubes bumped its point total to 587, which keeps the team in fourth, while SmartStop Pro Cycling remained in fifth with 502 points.
 
Colavita-Fine Cooking kept the status quo in the women’s standings with 1584 points on the heels of Allar’s win. TIBCO/To the Top held its second-place standing with 1123 points, collecting 60 points on Schneider’s bronze medal, while UnitedHealthcare remained in third with 1034 points despite not recording any points at the event. Pepper Palace Pro Cycling remained in fourth with 765 points, and Fearless Femme stood fifth with 723.
