WOMEN’S

Despite having two races remaining on the calendar, Allar clinched the season title with 997 points after taking second at the Chris Thater Memorial. Vying for second on the season, Tina Pic (Hailey, Idaho/Fearless Femme) held her second-place standing with 692 points after taking seventh at the event, collecting 48 points toward her total. Close on Pic’s heels is Laura Van Gilder (Cresco, Pa./Van Dessel Factory Team p/b Mellow Mushroom), who closed her third-place gap with a third-place finish at the Chris Thater Memorial, upping her total to 624 points. Coryn Rivera (Tustin, Calif./UnitedHealthcare) remained in fourth with 496 points after claiming fourth at the event, and Sarah Fader (Boulder, Colo./Pepper Palace Pro Cycling) rode her Chris Thater Memorial win into a fifth-place ranking with 410 points.

MEN’S

Luke Keough (Sandwich, Mass./UnitedHealthcare) held firm to his lead over the men’s rankings for another week with 654 points, thanks to a fifth-place finish at the Chris Thater Memorial. Daniel Holloway (Morgan Hill, Calif./Athlete Octane Cycling) and Kenneth Hanson (San Diego, Calif./UnitedHealthcare) retained their respective second- and third-place standings with 549 and 467 points after Holloway took fourth at the event, while Hanson did not record any points. Adam Myerson (Boston, Mass./SmartStop Pro Cycling) jumped from fifth to fourth with 429 points when he crossed sixth at the Chris Thater Memorial, and Isaac Howe (Winooski, Vt./Champion System-Stan's No Tubes) dropped from fourth to fifth with 383 points following his 21st-place effort at the event.

TEAMS

In a year dominated by the UnitedHealthcare men’s team, it was only appropriate that the team sewed up the 2014 NCC title almost a month early. Riding Adrian Hegyvary’s (Asheville, N.C./UnitedHealthcare) Chris Thater Memorial win, along with two more top-10 finishes at the event, UHC improved its rankings point total to 2,621. Athlete Octane Cycling remained in second, thanks in large part to Holloway’s fourth-place finish, while Astellas Cycling Team retained its third-place ranking with 819 points. Rounding out the top five, Champion System-Stan’s NoTubes increased its fourth-place point total to 666, while SmartStop Pro Cycling remained in fifth with 556 points.

More work remains on the women’s side before a team champion will be determined, but Colavita-Fine Cooking made another sizable step toward the title with two top-10 finishes, including Allar’s silver medal. Colavita-Fine Cooking’s first-place 1,735 points is now 612 over TIBCO/To the Top, who retained second with 1,123 points despite not recording any points at the Chris Thater Memorial. Closing in on second, UnitedHealthcare retained its third-place standing, increasing its point total to 1,100 following Rivera’s fourth-place finish at the event, while Pepper Palace Pro Cycling used Fader’s Chris Thater Memorial win, as well as two more top-20 finishes, to retain its fourth-place standing with 921 points. Fearless Femme remained in fifth with 806 points on the heels of Pic’s seventh-place result.
