NCC: Allar, Magner stand tall after three events
(May 5, 2015) – Erica Allar (Tucson, Ariz./ Colavita-Bianchi p/b Fine Cooking) has podiumed in all three 2015 USA Cycling National Criterium Calendar (NCC) events this year, while Tyler Magner (Griffin, Ga./Hincapie Racing Team) has ascended the podium in both criteriums he has raced, as the two claim early leads on the 17-race calendar following the April 11 Novant Health Invitational Criterium and the Ninth Annual Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling on May 3.
WOMEN’S
After earning bronze at opening NCC event of the year, Allar finished third at the April 11 Novant Health Invitational Criterium and first at the Dana Point Grand Prix of Cycling to bring her point total to a first-place 264 points. Hannah Barnes (GBR/UnitedHealthcare) stands second with 240 points after collecting her second win of the calendar at the Novant Health Invitational Crit, while Samantha Schneider (Milwaukee, Wis./ISCorp Cycling p/b SmartChoice MRI) stands third with 186 points following an eighth-place effort at Novant and a silver-medal performance at Dana Point. Kendall Ryan (Ventura, Calif./Team TIBCO-SVB) is fourth overall with 162 points thanks to respective second- and third- place finishes at Novant and Dana Point, and Yussely Soto (Dayton, Minn./ ISCorp Cycling p/b SmartChoice MRI) is fifth with 132 points following 12th- and seventh-place finishes at Nuvant and Dana Point.
MEN’S
Magner, who started the season with a win at the Sunny King Criterium, took silver at the Dana Point GP to accumulate a first-place 210 points. Karl Menzies (Ada, Mich./UnitedHealthcare) trails in second with 186 points on the heels of a fourth-place Novant Health Invitational Criterium performance and Dana Point win, and Hilton Clarke (Los Angeles, Calif./UnitedHealthcare) has a third-place 176 point total thanks in part to his silver medal at Novant. Carlos Alzate (COL/UnitedHealthcare) stands fourth with 168 points with the Novant Health Invitational Criterium win, and Ryan Aitcheson (Milwaukee, Wis./Astellas Cycling Team) rounds out the top five with 162 points after a pair of third-place finishes at the April 11 and May 3 events.
TEAMS
ISCorp Cycling p/b SmartChoice MRI stands atop the women’s team standings with 477 points after three events, while UnitedHealthcare trails closely behind with 438 points. Colavita-Bianchi p/b Fine Cooking stands third with 340 points, followed by Team TIBCO-SVB with 288 and Pepper Palace Pro Cycling p/b the Happy Tooth with 143.
UnitedHealthcare continues its early command on the men’s team standings with 620 points, followed by Hincapie Racing Team with 367 points, Astellas Cycling Team with 339, Isagenix-SeaSucker-Guttenplan Coaching with 129 and KHS-Maxxis-JLVelo with 105.
