Men’s road selection procedures for 2012 Olympic Games announced

Print USA Cycling released today the selection procedures that will be used to determine the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team in men’s road cycling. The procedures outline the selection process to qualify for the men’s Olympic road race and time trial in London 2012.
Following the announcement of both men’s and women’s selection procedures in BMX, mountain bike and track cycling as well as women’s road cycling in January, the men’s road selection procedures have been approved by the United States Olympic Committee and are available on USA Cycling’s Team Selection page. All cycling Olympic selection procedures are now finalized.
The men’s road cycling Olympic selection document details prioritized qualification procedures for automatic and discretionary selection.
The men’s road race will take place on July 28, 2012, starting and finishing on the Mall near Buckingham Palace in central London. The 250-kilometer course combines a central London circuit with a long loop into the Surrey Hills, via Putney, Richmond Park and Hampton Court and includes nine circuits of Box Hill. The men’s time trial will cover 44 kilometers on August 1 and will be based on the edge of the capital at Hampton Court.
