John Stenner and Joshua Kuck Memorial Scholarship winners announced

Print Colorado Springs, Colo. (December 29, 2014) – The USA Cycling Development Foundation is pleased to announce five student-athletes chosen to receive the annual John Stenner and Joshua Kuck Memorial Scholarships.
The women's Stenner Scholarship was awarded to Jennifer Wilson (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) while the men's Stenner Scholarship was awarded to two deserving individuals, Jules Goguely (Rhode Island School of Design) and Travis Rabbit (Yale Medical School). Mollie Brewer (University of Colorado, Boulder) won the women's Kuck's Scholarship and Wesley Murphy (Lindsey Wilson College) was named winner of the men's Kuck Scholarship.
Each of the five recipients will receive $1,500.
JENNIFER WILSON
Currently a graduate student in MIT's Biological Engineering program, Jennifer Wilson holds an undergrad degree from the University of Virginia. The straight-A student is focusing on creating medical solutions which will enhance cancer treatments. A solid bike racer with consistent top-ten results, Wilson has been a leader and mentor for her MIT Cycling Team. Additionally, she volunteers with Boston Bikes and the PN2K Foundation.
"The Stenner scholarship is a reflection of USA Cycling's dedication to developing the sport of cycling and supporting racers as they balance careers as students and athletes," Wilson said gratefully after accepting the women's Stenner award. "To me, the scholarship is an honor because it further enables me to enjoy the sport I love, and recognizes the value that student athletes bring to the cycling community."
JULES GOGUELY
As a senior at the Rhode Island School of Design, Jules Goguely studiesIndustrial Design and Business, and is one of the co-winners of the men's Stenner scholarship.
With a bronze medal from Collegiate Road Nationals in his hardware collection, Goguely dreams of racing professionally.
Goguely has been a leading organizer of the RISD Collegiate Cycling Team, and also organized a group from Brown, Providence and RISD to host the first-ever collegiate road races held in Rhode Island which the state followed up by hosting with the inaugural conference championships.
TRAVIS RABBIT
Travis Rabbit is currently a graduate student at Yale University where he is in the Physician’s Assistant program at the Yale Medical School. A proud member of the Yale Bulldog Cycling team, Rabbit is co-winner of the men's Stenner scholarship. Rabbit has been a solid competitor with consistent top-ten finishes in the ECCC competitions, a team captain, mentor to young riders, and a promoter of equality and inclusion for the LGBT community in collegiate cycling.
"I am proud to be a Stenner Scholarship recipient who trains for and races in the women’s elite field, volunteers as a mentor to new riders and as the ECCC Track Coordinator, and advocates for equal opportunities for all people to participate in competitive cycling," Rabbit said upon accepting the award.
MOLLIE BREWER
Mollie Brewer, a first-year graduate student in Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado in Boulder, raced for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill last year where she served as her team's co-president. For the last five years, Brewer taught cycling skills and safety to children ages four through 13 and was subsequently invited to teach at a USA Triathlon Junior Camp last year. She maintains a 3.45 GPA and is laser focused on a podium spot at Collegiate Nationals in 2015 in Asheville. When she's not in her CU kit, she races for Vanderkitten.
"I am very grateful and excited to receive the Kuck Collegiate Cycling Scholarship," she said. "I am honored to represent an organization that promotes cycling education, safety and advocacy since this is something I am passionate about thanks to my work with youth in the community. This scholarship makes it possible for me to pursue my education and cycling goals. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who made it possible. I won't let you down."
WESLEY MURPHY
The men's Kuck scholarship recipient, Wesley Murphy is a junior at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky where he is captain of the cycling team. With a 3.3 GPA, he is majoring in Recreation and Tourism. An accomplished BMX and mountain bike rider, Murphy is consistently placing in the top ten in collegiate mountain bike races. He has also held first-place national rankings in BMX as a junior and continues to race both disciplines. In addition to his team captain duties, Wes works with an after-school cycling program where he introduces troubled youth to bike riding.
