Best Advice Received From a Coach When First Starting Out: We can’t control the outcome of races; we can only prepare to win. So remember, the winners did everything the losers did not. No regrets!

Motivation: The feeling of peace and satisfaction as I go to the start line that only occurs when I have done everything possible to prepare to win the race.

Cycling & Personal Goals: Compete in cycling at a high level for Brevard College while earning a degree in elementary education. Personal: Eventually have my own hands on, outdoor experiential education facility.

What makes you a unique person? I want to change the world, one organic vegetable at a time! For several years, I have borrowed garden space from a couple of neighbors and utilized my own family’s suburban yard to grow wonderful vegetables to eat and share. At various times I have given away bags of lettuce, carrots, cucumber and beans, to name a few. Friends and relatives can’t get enough of my garden’s baba ghanouj, basil pesto or zucchini bread! I hope to teach the next generation that enthusiasm for fresh, flavor-packed food, inspiring them to reconnect with the earth and become more self-sustaining.

How did you first become involved in cycling? Before we met, my current team manager, Brant Hendler, developed an interest in speed skating. He began to train with our inline speed team where he became familiar with our team’s work ethic. He and my coach (my dad) shared similar philosophies, so we were honored when Brant invited several of us to join his junior development team. Thanks to the generosity of all of our sponsors, we have access to some of the cycling world’s best equipment, opportunities and mentors.

Charity Work or Community Involvement: For the past five years, I have volunteered at our local elementary school providing guidance and support for the students who benefit from attending this nationally recognized Autistic Spectrum Disorder program. In the past I have also served as a hands-on volunteer at a local farm, The Critter Barn, which hosts field trips for elementary students.

Family: L.R. and Jacqueline Cole, parents…one brother, Stuart. My dad, L.R. Cole has competed in inline speed skating for 13 years and BMX raced as a younger man. My brother, Stu, competes with me in inline speed skating and road cycling.
