Jacqueline Harmony descends to gold at Pan Am MTB Championships

  
  


April 6, 2013 (Tucuman, Argentina) -- The United States got off to a fantastic start at the 2013 Pan American Continental Mountain Bike Championships in Tucuman, Argentina on Saturday with a gold medal ride by Jacqueline Harmony (Tucson, Ariz./A Culture of Speed).
 
Harmony descended to the continental title in the elite women's downhill race with a time of 2:20.20. She finished ahead of silver and bronze medalists Camila Nogueira (ARG) and Bruna Ulrich (BRA) who clocked times of 2:22.78 and 2:24.59 respectively
 
Also competing on the downhill course were Graeme Pitt (Nevada City, Calif./Turner Bicycles – ONE Industries – SmithOptics-Hay), Max Morgan (Duluth, Ga.), and Dante Harmony (Tucson, Ariz.) who placed 16th, 34th and 38th in the elite men's contest; and Matthew Branney (Littleton, Colo.) who was tenth in the junior men's race.
 
The junior men's cross country race was also a feature on Saturday and U.S. rider Lucas Newcomb (Nicasio, Calif./Whole Athlete-Specialized) put in quite the effort. Despite an early crash, he was able to come back from 30th position and finish the course with a time of 1:11.52 for fifth-place.
 
Racing wraps up on Sunday with the junior women's, elite women's, U23 men's, and elite men's cross country competitions.
