Personal

The world first got a glimpse of Heather Irmiger in "Off Road to Athens," a feature-length documentary that followed eight top U.S. mountain bikers in their quests to earn a spot on the 2004 Olympic team. Irmiger's cameo in the film was hardly noticeable since her role was subordinate to her husband's (then boyfriend), Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski, who was one of the featured athletes. Irmiger's own athletic debut would come later, when she joined the same professional mountain bike team as her husband in 2006.
 
Heather grew up in Boulder, Colo., and attended the University of Colorado where she earned her undergraduate degree in applied physiology and her Masters degree in integrative physiology. Following graduation, Heather balanced her cycling career with her job as a professional research assistant in the Integrative Vascular Biology Lab at CU. After a successful season in 2005 and following her first major national victory, Heather joined the Subaru/Gary Fisher Mountain Bike Team, which became the Subaru/Trek team in 2010.
 
Apparently not content to merely be the wife of a star mountain biker, Heather shined brilliantly in 2009 when she captured national titles in both cross-country and marathon off-road disciplines. In addition to owning the 2009 National Short Track Series title and many domestic victories, Heather is a multiple national team performer, a 2008 Olympic Long Team member, and has appeared on many international podiums since turning pro.
 
When not traveling the world as a top pro mountain biker, Heather enjoys riding her motorcycles, working on heavy duty house projects, grocery and wine shopping, cooking, and being at home with her friends and family. She loves everything two-wheeled and plays in the outdoors year-round, whether it’s riding bikes, or motorcycles, or skiing in the backcountry. Heather grew up taking regular family trips to Winter Park, Colo., and to Moab, Utah. Her parents are also incredible athletes/role models who have inspired Heather throughout her career.
