Gulf Coast Regional MTB Championship Series to debut in 2014

November 29, 2013 — The series director for the Mississippi Off-Road Cycling Series (MORCS), Matt Roland, and for the Louisiana Mountain Bike Championship Series (LMBCS), Eric Heyl, have agreed to a regional championship format for the respective area. The top ten racers from each category/class from their respective series will be invited to this inaugural winner-takes-all event for 2014.

The USA Cycling-sanctioned events will offer a consistent point structure and allow riders to qualify to participate in either state series. The single-day regional championship format was created to unite the two state championships and create an exciting playoff format for both race series. The Gulf Coast Regional MTB Championship will alternate the host state every year, with Lincoln Parish State Park in Ruston, Louisiana, being the host of the inaugural event on November 16, 2014.
