Favorite Race: B-post Bank Trophy Loenhout (Belgium)

Favorite Place to Train: Indiana knobs

Best Cycling Memory: EuroCrossCamp. It was awesome to chill and race with good friends. At Loenhout we had almost four guys in the group racing for the top five. It was crazy. That is my favorite cycling moment so far.

Best Advice Received From a Coach When Starting Out: Don't worry about nationals so much, especially when you are a junior. Everyone is growing at different rates and it really doesn't even out until you get older.

Motivation: Wanting to be the best. Going to Europe in 2013, I was motivated even more. I got crushed, and making improvements in each race was motivating. Finally cracking the top 10 at Baal was a breakthrough. I cannot wait to go back next year and fight for the podium.

Hero/Role Model: My athletics hero is Muhammad Ali. My life hero would be my math teacher, as he is very influential in my life and a good friend.

Cycling & Personal/Career Goals: Top three at that 2015 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships; win the 2015 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships; become a professional in cyclo-cross and be in the top 10 at European races.

First Involvement in Cycling: I have always loved bikes. I did motocross as a kid but stopped after two years and started mountain biking. I began racing ‘cross on my mountain bike when I was nine and that's how the love for ‘cross started. After my first cyclo-cross season I began road and mountain, which really got me involved in the cycling community.

Hobbies: Playing the guitar and Ultimate Frisbee

Family: Gavin has six siblings. His older brother, Luke, and younger brother, Paul, also race. Paul won the 9-10 division at the 2014 Cyclo-cross National Championships, and Luke is on a cycling scholarship for school.
