Gage Hecht takes big cyclo-cross win in Koksijde, Belgium on Saturday

Junior Men
Although it wasn't a part of the world cup, the junior men's event set the stage for a huge win for American Gage Hecht (Parker, Colo./Alpha Bicycle Company/Visit Subaru).The 16-year-old Hecht beat out three Belgian favorites for the win, crossing the line seven seconds ahead of second-place finisher Alessio Dhoore (BEL) and 15 seconds ahead of third-place finisher Stefano Museeuw (BEL). Also riding for Team USA Cycling, Gavin Haley (Louisville, Ky./Red Zone Cycling) was 11th, Cameron Beard (Bend, Ore./Cyclocrossworld.com Devo Team) was 13th, Spencer Petrov (Mason, Ohio/Element Cycles) was 14th, and Michael Owens (Richmond, Vt./Cyclocrossworld.com Devo Team) was 17th.
Elite Women

"That was a 'cut my losses' character building kind of day," she tweeted after the event. "Bad lungs and bad legs. But I finished. Oh, the highs and lows of bike racing!"
Also racing from the USA were Rachel Lloyd (Fairfax, Calif./California Giant Cycling) in 12th and Crystal Anthony (Beverly, Mass./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) in 19th. The race was won by Belgian Sanne Cant.
Elite Men
The top American in the elite men's race was Jeremy Powers (Easthampton, Mass./Rapha Focus) in 17th. He finished behind winner Woute Van Aert (BEL) and ahead of fellow Americans Jonathan Page (Northfield, NH/Fuji-Spyoptics) and Jeremy Durrin (Easthampton, Mass./Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) who were 38th and 54th, respectively, in the 57-man event.
U23 Men
Also racing a non-world cup event as part of USA Cycling's National Development Program was a U23 men's squad of four. The top rider for Team USA Cycling was Ian McPherson (Boulder, Colo./The Pro's Closet CX) in 17th place while his teammates Liam Earl (Boise, Idaho), Grant Ellwood (Boulder, COlo./Boulder Cycle Sport Elite), and Maxx Chance (Boulder, Colo./The Pro’s Closet Cx) were 19th, 21st, and 23rd.
