(Sept. 17, 2017) – 2016 Olympic Champion Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Chase BMX-Monster Energy) closed out the 2017 UCI BMX World Cup season with a Supercross win on Sunday in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. With the victory in the sixth and final World Cup event, Fields finished second in the overall World Cup standings behind only France’s Sylvain Andre.
 
Fields took Sunday’s win in 31.237 seconds, edging out Carlos Alberto Ramirez Yepes (COL) by 0.234 seconds and Andre by 0.307 seconds. It was Fields’ second World Cup win of the season. He also won the third World Cup of the year in Zolder, Belgium.
 
In Sunday’s women’s final, Dani George (Palmdale, Calif.) placed eighth in 38.948 seconds. Colombia’s Mariana Pajon took the win in 34.753 seconds, followed by Laura Smulders (NED) and Mariana Diaz (ARG). Smulders secured the overall World Cup title with her performance.
