The American riders positioned Shelley Olds (Gilroy, Calif./AA Drink-Leontien Cycling Team) for a pair of top-15 finishes, including fifth place in the second stage, to place 23rd overall.

In the 114.5-kilometer second stage, four riders attacked and left the field to fight for fifth place. Olds won a field sprint to secure fifth place.

In the third stage, Kendall Ryan (Ventura, Calif./TIBCO-To the Top) attacked early and opened a lead for approximately one third of the 92.5 kilometers stage. Ryan's lead on the field reached four minutes at one point before she was brought back to the pack.

Also contesting the race were Jackie Crowell (Maitland, Fla./Exergy Twenty12), Coryn Rivera (Tustin, Calif./Exergy Twenty12), Samantha Schneider (Milwaukee, Wisc./TIBCO-To the Top) and Tayler Wiles (Murray, Utah./Exergy

In two weeks the riding resumes for the USA Cycling National Development Program.

The following group of development riders will contest the Vuelta Independencia Nacional in the Dominican Republic from Feb. 20-27:
